Mafia: Definitive Edition
Mafia: Definitive Edition Has Been Delayed Into September
Written Tuesday, July 07, 2020 By Matt Lorrigan

Publisher 2K and developer Hanger 13 have announced that Mafia: Definitive Edition has been delayed until 25th September 2020.

"Mafia: Definitive Edition will now release worldwide on September 25. Though we’d originally planned to release the game one month earlier on August 28, finalizing everything in time for that launch date has become increasingly challenging due to the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic, and the last thing we want to do is compromise the quality of the experience," said the joint statement.

"From the beginning, this has been a passion project for us. Many of our developers helped create the original Mafia, and all of us are committed to crafting an updated experience worthy of that timeless classic. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make Mafia: Definitive Edition the very best it can be for all of our fans worldwide."

It's not all doom and gloom though. We have our first real look at the game in action in the 15-second teaser trailer below, with a full gameplay reveal booked in on the 22nd July 2020 to look forward to. It's not much, but what is there looks stunning, so we're excited to see more.

Mafia: Definitive Edition is now due to launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on 25th September 2020.

I don’t mind the delay if the game releases in a finished state and not glitchy and broken as mafia games have in the past.

Given the bungling of the past few releases, I'm not remotely optimistic about this one. Going to keep waiting on it and hope that it gets some positive reviews and takeaways upon release.

1 extra month won't save this game if it's as big of a technical trainwreck as the previous 2 games were so they're better be pulling out all the stops to ensure that doesn't happen, else this franchise will be killed stone dead.

I bought the collection because I've never played them, so looking forward to all of them being released and patched to perfection

I will be getting this one for sure eventually. Will be awhile though. Wish they'd have released it for PS5 too because it'll be closer to then.
