Bandai Namco has released a new developer diary for The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope, featuring the series' Director and CEO of Supermassive Games, Pete Samuels. In the new video, Samuels offers some insights into the creation process behind Little Hope and the anthology as a whole.

He also talks about how the upcoming next chapter will be both similar and different to first episode, Man of Medan, with Little Hope's storyline inspired by the gruesome New England witch trials of 1692. A new cast of playable characters, led by Will Poulter's Andrew, will feature, as they take a school field trip to Massachusetts before becoming lost in the eponymous eerie town.

Samuels also charts Little Hope's influences, which include a diversity of sources including The Witch, It Follows, Silent Hill, and The Omen, as well as explaining some of the changes Supermassive is looking to implement in the new game, based on feedback gleaned from Man of Medan. Find out more in the new dev diary below.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope is due to release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in summer 2020.

I like these kinds of games but Medan took way too many playthroughs and the voice acting and dialogue weren't very good. You also walk too damn slow.

This needs to really wow me to get a purchase. And the trophy list needs to be MUCH better.

@1 Agreed. The online mode feels like something which was done to check off a box, as it's probably the most tedious aspect for those who want the plat. I'm certain factoring in the online mode was why a single play is so short.

Also way too easy to get what most would consider the ideal ending.
