Detroit: Become Human
Quantic Dream 'Failed Security Obligations' to Employees, Court Finds
Written Tuesday, December 03, 2019 By Ben Borthwick

Detroit: Become Human and Heavy Rain developer Quantic Dream has been ordered to pay an ex-employee €5,000 in indemnities and €2,000 in legal funds after it was found to be guilty of breaching security obligations to employees and allowing a toxic work environment to fester under its watch.

As reported on Resetera via Videogamer, the company had been accused of creating a space where "homophobic, misogynistic, racist, or deeply vulgar" behaviour was allowed to continue unchecked, and on the 21st November, the Labour Court of Paris rendered its verdict on the case between the ex-employee who had been caricatured as a "Super Nanny" and had had offensive photomontages including alleged portrayals of the ex-IT manager performing a Nazi salute mocking them distributed through the studio.

Though the ex-employee was unsuccessful in their original goal of seeking €114,000 in damages, the court did agree that the company should have "anticipated the images getting out of control since they were created on company premesis." and failed in its duty to protect its employees.

The allegations of a toxic work environment at the studio first came to light last January, with the studio strongly denying them, even going so far as to alledgedly threaten to sue French media outlets over the reports. Quantic Dream themselves put out a statement on the court ruling, which you can see below, and have decided to not appeal the decision.

What a joke. Notice how it says "misogynistic" not sexist. One way street as usual.

@1: Agreed. ResetEra is a garbage tier website that's full of whinging SJWs, who bitch and moan about stuff they have zero intention of ever buying and constantly move the goalposts so they can play perpetual victims.
