Control's Free Photo Mode Update Arrives Tomorrow
Written Tuesday, October 15, 2019 By Matt Lorrigan

Control is getting updated to version 1.04 on 16th October, bringing the previously revealed Photo Mode to the game. Developer Remedy has also detailed the new Expedition mode that will be arriving in Control at the end of the year in a post on the PlayStation Blog.

Anyone who has played even a few minutes of Control can testify to how stunningly designed the world of the game is, and fans have been crying out for a photo mode since day one so they can best capture the surreal beauty of The Oldest House.

Photo Mode in Control will be accessed through the options menu and will completely pause the game world so that players can construct the perfect composition, even allowing you to hide protagonist Jesse or every other character so you can concentrate on the architecture alone. Other options will include the ability to roll the camera, change the FOV and adjust the aperture and focus. You’ll also find a selection of ten Instagram-style filters to use, unless you’re all about that #nofilter lifestyle.

Remedy Community Manager Vida Starcevic also outlined the free Expeditions mode coming to Control later in the year. This new mode will present the player with a bunch of different objectives to complete within set time limits, each with different modifiers to up the challenge - perfect for players who have already completed the game.

Two paid story expansions for Control are due to drop in 2020, with ‘The Foundation’ arriving first before the Alan Wake-themed ‘AWE’ expansion arrives later in 2020.

Control is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
