This weekend will see Mortal Kombat 11 available as a free trial, granting access to a fairly sizeable chunk of NetherRealm's brutal fighter, including the first two chapters of Story mode, all multiplayer game modes, and every single character from the base game.

There's even a preview of recently added DLC fighters from the game's Kombat Pack as part of the trial, meaning you can get your hands on the Terminator T-800 (tying in with the upcoming Terminator: Dark Fate movie), Nightwolf, and Shang Tsung in the Towers of Time mode.

The Mortal Kombat 11 Free Trial Weekend runs from 11th - 14th October on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, requiring a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold subscription. Progress during the trial will carry over to the full game, which will be available to purchase with 40% off during the Free Weekend period.

@1 Netherrealm will never allow you to have your cake and eat it too. Should have bit the bullet and pre-ordered if you care so much about Shao Kahn.

@2 That's not true. There will be a "komplete" edition including Shao Kahn released after all the DLC has been delivered like they ALWAYS do.
