Assassin's Creed Odyssey Story Creator XP Farming Quests Have Been Banned

Ubisoft has put a stop to players using an XP farming exploit in Assassin's Creed Odyssey's Story Creator mode, no longer allowing users to make quests that enabled players to gain XP and level up at an accelerated rate. Released during E3 2019, the game's Story Creator tool lets players make their own missions and share them online.

Unsurprisingly, this has led to quests appearing that let players earn a substantial amount of XP quickly, something that Ubisoft has now banned, according to a post on its official forums (via An alteration has been made to the Story Creator's terms of use, closing any loopholes on the XP and levelling exploit.

Any users seen to "continue to willingly and intentionally misuse the tool" will be sanctioned, the post reads. "We want to focus on rewarding creativity by highlighting quality quests and we are working on fixes and adjustments to reduce the impact of such farming quests on the player experience."

The post adds that these changes are part of an effort to preserve the integrity of Story Creator mode. "These exploits risk jeopardising the overall quality, integrity, and purpose of Story Creator Mode and results in less visibility for the creative, interesting and frankly fantastic community stories that have been published," the post states.

Of course, Ubisoft does sell its own XP boosters via the Assassin's Creed Odyssey in-game store, alongside a wealth of other items available through optional microtransactions, including weapons, mounts, currency, and crafting resources.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and next week will see the release of the game's final paid DLC, The Fate of Atlantis Episode 3: Judgment of Atlantis.

Hard to believe that the devs were so obtuse and lacked the foresight enough to anticipate this happening!

That said, I highly doubt they would even bother banning these end-user-generated XP quests if they weren't selling XP boosters.

I struggle to see the point of power levelling in this game, the enemies level up with you anyway, or just under you dependant on difficulty. I never really grinded anything in this game ( apart from materials for ship upgrades), and all I did really was main missions, side missions ( not all though) and cultists.

And as for ability points, you get absolutely tonnes during the Fate of Atlantis DLC's.

@2 you are right. The only point to hitting max level is to not needing to upgrade equipment. You can only equip a few abilities and I didn't bother unlocking ones I wouldn't use. I suppose you could max all the little bonus boosts, but by the time you did that you probably would need to clear the game three times, then Ubisoft would raise the level cap again...

Ubisoft ruined this game with its substantial XP requirements just to progress the game so they could sell that bullshit microtransaction to the people who don't want to spend 10 hours straight at a time on side content. It bothers me that people found a way to fix this unbearable problem and Ubisoft can't just let it be.

@#2 I've always had the same feeling towards Odyssey. The fact that enemies level up with you kind of defeats the point of it being an "RPG" to begin with. I get that they wanted the game to "stay challenging", but it's not like enemies 2 levels below you are "challenging" anyway, so that system is kind of pointless.

Plus, the fact that once you reach max level & upgrade all your gear there's really no point of picking up loot. It defeats the purpose of having rarities of loot as well.

Stupid decision. Let players do what they want.

@#9 Agreed. Especially in a singleplayer only game.

ubisoft: these xp exploits will upset the balance and the experience of the game ban them!

ubisoft: (spins hat around) would you like to buy an xp and gold boost?
