According to a report by Kotaku, Ubisoft's next Assassin's Creed game will feature Vikings and will be heading to consoles in 2020.

Two independent sources have now confirmed to Kotaku that the upcoming title is currently set to debut in 2020 and will feature Vikings, but that's all that has been revealed so far. Some players have spotted a poster in The Division 2, which features a Norse God holding the Apple of Eden, an object that's been pretty core the Assassin's Creed series, so it does look as though the Viking setting could be a thing.

Unfortunately, that's all that's known so far, but as per usual with these type of stories, it's best to wait until Ubisoft make an official announcement themselves so do take this news with a pinch of salt. With E3 just a few months away now we could very well see a tease for the next Assassin's Creed game there.

Master Assassin Loki Vs Templar Grand Master Odin?
If you think about it, both fit the respective traits fairly well.

The best thing AC did was introducing the whole game-in-game concept with Liberation. A shame they haven't fully gone nuts with it yet.

Why can't AC die already? Total creative bankruptcy.

Can't wait for the next installment of historical re-education for the masses. It will be a real challenge for them to make one of the most traditional, homogenous, and masculine European cultures "woke" and "diverse" but I'm sure Ubi is up for it.

While I would love a Viking game in AC style I doubt, just like Oddyssey, that it will be much of an ac game itself. Oh well, after string come back with Origins they took it the wrong direction if you ask me. Still very fun game, just not rly AC game imo...

Okay I'm both very excited, yet very curious about this. Vikings were many things, but "stealthy" was generally not their strong side. It was more "RAAAWWRRR KICK ASS AND BURN STUFF!"

Although, if we would get a similar game to Odyssey, but set in Norse will be my favorite in the series, no question.

Looks like you need some education on history first.
Viking women were incredibly empowered for the time. Kind of happens if men are out on raids. Also they were not homogeneous but quiet diverse. They frequently took in members of other cultures and weren't no stranger to mingle with the peoples they came in contact with. Which was all of Europe and even the Levant. And traditional? Someone once said they were as good a Christian as they were Pagan.
