Over the Christmas period, Supergiant Games has announced that Transistor has sold more than 1 million copies on PC and PlayStation 4.

"We feel incredibly fortunate to be able to stick together as a team and with any luck keep making the kinds of games that resonate with you for a long time to come," said Supergiant in a blog post.

The impressive sales numbers are good news for Supergiant, whose debut title Bastion has sold more than 3 million copies. One of our favourite indie devs, we’re excited to see what the studio comes up with next.

"As we look ahead to 2016, our goal as a studio remains the same as when we were just getting started in the living room of a house in San Jose back in 2009: to stick together as a small team, and keep making games that spark your imagination," added the studio.

"Thank you again for letting us do this, and here's to the new year."

lol im totally fed up with all these independent companies, now 7 out of 10 monthly released games are coming from small developer/indie companies and 1 or 2 remasters,IF we are lucky we might see a new tittle :( wish things were different

@3 You are in the minority. Most people like indie games. Give them a chance instead of just crying about not getting what you want.

@4 ^ well said! there are a lot of awesome ideas coming from indie developers, just because it is not an "AAA Title", does not mean you should overlook it or give it a try

@3 You have to understand that the industry has changed. Triple A games now take on average at least three years to develop, not to mention the fact that so many devs closed their doors or were shut down over the last five or six years. I understand indie games aren't up everyone's street, but frankly they're essential to the talent pool of the industry. And if we keep seeing success stories such as the one above, there's every chance that some of these studios will be able to go on to do bigger things.

Fucking congrats SuperGiant! Transistor was my personal GOTY of 2014 and to this day I am listening to it's soundtrack. Great story, even better gameplay and amazing soundtrack. I just wish there was more, more, more.

Kinda felt like I've had enough after 3 playthroughs on harder and harder difficulties;-) Didn't stop me from buying again on PC. If anything I am surprises it didn't sell more, but I keep forgetting half if not more gamers have attitude like #3....

Well deserved! Amazing gameplay, great story and stunning visuals and soundtrack make this one of the best indie titles out there!
And I agree with #8, I'm kinda surprised it didn't sell more or hit the 1M millestone sooner.

I'm still trying to get use to Transistor. I swear it plays more like a turn based rpg than action, imo. I don't like turn based rpgs. No offense to anyone that does. However, I do like the way the game looks and of course the music is awesome. Just like it was in Bastion. I

I patiently await their next efforts. It will be welcomed!

@#10 It's a hybrid sort of like DA:I. You can either play action or turn based, but in all the honesty turn based is a lot more fun IMO and a lot less hectic too. But that's from someone who loved Turn based RPG's, so you're not wrong ther ;-)

@3 im going to tell you why your opinion is dumb. these indie devs have NOTHING to do with AAA game development. last gen and now more so this gen, youre getting more games because of these indie games. so your choice is basically, do you want no indies and the same amount of AAA titles or do you want indies and the exact same amount of AAA titles. the choice is obvious.
