Extensive demos of the pretty damn good Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux are on their way to PlayStation 4 for free, says publisher Deep Silver.

“Making full use of the new-gen consoles’ ‘Trial’ functionality, gamers can play through the opening chapters of both Metro Redux games,” says the blurb from Deep Silver. “Should they wish to upgrade to the full version, they can transfer their saved games and continue their progress seamlessly”

“The Metro 2033 Redux Trial includes the first eight Chapters up to ‘Dead City.’ The Metro: Last Light Redux Trial includes nine Chapters up to ‘Theatre’. In each case, the Trial version represents about one-third of the total game. Metro Redux contains all of the Metro franchise content ever released in one ultimate package.”

Got all that? The first eight chapters of Metro 2033 Redux and the first nine chapters of Metro: Last Light Redux will be made available for free on PlayStation 4 "soon". And if you choose to purchase the full games you can carry over your progress. Ace!

They try to lure gamers, so after the play it, they buy it. Smart.

But I really enjoy those games and the price is at the moment very low.

These are some great news right here! There's very little reason not to get Metro Redux, but now everyone can experience these masterpieces for themselves before making a purchase. What's not to love?
Both 4A Games and Deep Silver deserves the respect of the gamer community, they've been doing so right were other companies fail miserably (cof cof Konami cof cof).

Sad day when a fuckin demo of a five year old game is news. Even worse when people gush about it.

Hm ... nice approach, but I'd assume after several sales and time passed, cheap remastereds ect., pretty much everyone even remotely interested in those games already played them.

Would make more sense for new games ... well, I think we used to call that concept demos.

It will be better if they give the whole games for free for plus members :)

Actually these games were recently released as HD Remasters, so they're not exactly 5 years old. True that they originally came out years ago, but they're not exactly the same.

What a great idea. Giving a demo of a game, for you to try before you buy... wait...

The progress carry over is nice, but still.

@This is a good idea because it is much longer than a demo. The article says you can play 1/3 of the game. A demo is much less than that; plus many demos usually use a beta version of the game and not the final version.

Shame all games don't do this as that way you won't buy any duds and just get games you know you like.

Aaahhh, good ol' demos. Really missed em...

Too bad I already bought Redux, it's still a good buy.

Buy those games if you haven't already. They're more than worth it.

But really, the idea is nothing new. It's just rare these days that we get demos or trials at all.
