Phoenix Wright is back, this time on PS4! Originally released for the Game Boy Advance in Japan, later being ported to the Nintendo DS and being available worldwide, the Ace Attorney Trilogy is now playable on a Sony console – believe it or not! But hey, no objections here, (W)right?

Take the role of Phoenix Wright and meet people like Mia, Maya or Pearl who will assist you on your way of bringing justice to everyone. Unveil some mysteries of the past and learn more about the characters on the other side of the court: Prosecutors like Miles Edgeworth, Franziska von Karma or Godot. Tell me, what does justice mean to you? Is it worth it to defend your client at all cost?

Warning: Guide may contain spoilers!
This guide can contain spoilers, so be warned. If you want to enjoy the story to the fullest, play through the game at least once before consulting a guide! If you want to, you can also check out my complete Platinum Walkthrough.

I highly recommend reading the story, but if you’re not interested, you can change your settings to “Full Auto-Skip”. However, you’ll need to hold the whole time. Also, investigations and all actions during trials need to be done by yourself.

Whenever you are stuck on a trial and you can't find the right evidence for a statement, it's always a good idea to press every statement. You won't get a penalty (there are very few exceptions where you will receive a penalty if you push on a wrong statement, but it's usually announced by the judge) and there will be new information to work with after doing that.

Save regularly as there are several moments in which a wrong decision can end a case early.

Step 1: Play through the story of all 3 games

Just play through the game normally and try to go for the miscellaneous trophies during every case. Make sure to create a save during the last trial part of the 4th case of the second game, Justice for All. This way, you can get the trophy for the bad ending of the game - Justice III Served - while also completing the game normally. Additionally, make sure to check out every ladder you find in the games.

At the end of this step, you should have earned the following trophies:

The First Turnabout
Turnabout Sisters
Turnabout Samurai
Turnabout Goodbyes
Rise from the Ashes
The Lost Turnabout
Reunion, and Turnabout
Turnabout Big Top
Farewell, My Turnabout
Turnabout Memories
The Stolen Turnabout
Recipe for Turnabout
Turnabout Beginnings
Bridge to the Turnabout
Please Turn In Your Badge
Secret Weapons Three
Mind Your Own Business, Pal!
Um, Lotta Hair, Was It?
Naruhodo A. Wrighto
Judge Wackner
Beware, Your Honor!
Smells Like Oldbag
Jean’s Foreign Language Course
Violetta’s Home-Made Donuts

Ladders Vs. Step-Ladders
Lunchbox Specialist
A Lawyer Only Cries Once It’s All Over

Step 2: Clean-up

In case you didn’t get any of the miscellaneous trophies, you can use chapter select to get the missing trophies.

At the end of this step, you should have unlocked the following trophies:

Ace Attorney Trilogy

[PST would like to thank Haptism for this Roadmap]

Ace Attorney Trilogy
Get every trophy. (2)
Congrats, you’re a real ace attorney! Phoenix Wright would be proud of you.

The First Turnabout
Clear Ep. 1 of PW: AA.

Story related. Can’t be missed.

The first episode of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is basically the tutorial for the trial parts of the game. It’s pretty short and you’ll learn about the basics. There isn’t much going on yet, but you can unlock the trophy Please Turn In Your Badge here.

Turnabout Sisters
Clear Ep. 2 of PW: AA.

Story related. Can’t be missed.

The second case will introduce you to the investigation parts of the game. You’ll learn how to examine stuff, moving between locations and gathering new evidence you can use for the trials in the game. It consists of two investigation parts and two trial parts.

Turnabout Samurai
Clear Ep. 3 of PW: AA.

Story related. Can’t be missed.

Once you’ve reached the third case of the first game, you should be familiar with the basics of the game. This episode consists of three investigation parts and three trial parts.

Turnabout Goodbyes
Clear Ep. 4 of PW: AA.

Story related. Can’t be missed.

The fourth case consists of three investigations and three trials. Additionally, you can unlock the trophy Secret Weapons Three during the second investigation.

Rise from the Ashes
Clear Ep. 5 of PW: AA.

Story related. Can’t be missed.

This episode wasn’t part of the original trilogy and was added at a later release of it. Thus, you’ll see some gameplay mechanics you won’t see in the following games of the trilogy. Due to a different sidekick than Maya, you’ll have a luminol spray and a fingerprint set which will pose a different experience during your investigations. You can unlock Lunchbox Specialist here.

The Lost Turnabout
Clear Ep. 1 of PW: AA - JFA.

Story related. Can’t be missed.

This is the first case of the second game, Justice for All. It’s another tutorial and only consists of a single trial in case you’ve forgotten how the game works. Mind Your Own Business, Pal! is unlockable during this case.

Reunion, and Turnabout
Clear Ep. 2 of PW: AA - JFA.

Story related. Can’t be missed.

Episode 2 of Justice for All introduces another new gameplay mechanic, the Psyche-Locks. When you’re talking to a person and they’re lying or don’t want to talk, you can present Pearl’s Magatama and try to break their lock using the right evidence. If you’re not able to break a lock the first time it appears, you need to gather more information and come back at a later point. Also, Um, Lotta Hair, Was It? can be unlocked.

Turnabout Big Top
Clear Ep. 3 of PW: AA - JFA.

Story related. Can’t be missed.

This case consists of two investigations and two trials with two parts each. You can unlock Naruhodo A. Wrighto near the beginning of this episode.

Farewell, My Turnabout
Clear Ep. 4 of PW: AA - JFA.

Story related. Can’t be missed.

The last case of the second game is one of the longer cases. There are two investigations with two parts each as well as two trials with two parts each. You can unlock Judge Wackner during the first trial of this case.

Additionally, this case has two different outcomes. Refer to Justice III Served on how to get the alternative bad ending.

Turnabout Memories
Clear Ep. 1 of PW: AA - T&T.

Story related. Can’t be missed.

This is another tutorial case in case you forgot the basics of the game. This time, you’re not playing as Phoenix Wright but as his mentor Mia Fey. It’s only a trial without an investigation part, but you can unlock Beware, Your Honor! here.

The Stolen Turnabout
Clear Ep. 2 of PW: AA - T&T.

Story related. Can’t be missed.

The second case of Trials & Tribulations will be something different… at first. You can, however, unlock Smells Like Oldbag during this case.

Recipe for Turnabout
Clear Ep. 3 of PW: AA - T&T.

Story related. Can’t be missed.

Episode 3 of Trials & Tribulations consists of two investigations and two trials. There are two unlockable trophies here, Violetta's Home-Made Donuts and Jean's Foreign Language Course. The latter requires some specific actions during the whole case, so pay attention to that.

Turnabout Beginnings
Clear Ep. 4 of PW: AA - T&T.

Story related. Can’t be missed.

You’ll learn about the tragic past of two main characters of the game. This is only a trial without an investigation part.

Bridge to the Turnabout
Clear Ep. 5 of PW: AA - T&T.

Story related. Can’t be missed.

The last case of Trials & Tribulations marks the last case of the original Ace Attorney trilogy. You’ll see an unexpected defense lawyer in this case and learn more about some other characters. It consists of two investigations and two trials, each of them got several parts. You can unlock I Hate Childhood Friends during a specific investigation part.

Please Turn In Your Badge
Answer "Mia Fey" when asked who the defendant is. (PW: AA, Ep. 1)

During the first case of the first game, The First Turnabout, you will be asked about the defendant. Instead of choosing the correct answer Larry Butz, choose Mia Fey. You won’t receive any punishment and will get a new chance to reply correctly afterwards.

Secret Weapons Three
Borrow all of Gumshoe's secret weapons. (PW: AA, Ep. 4)

During the second investigation part of the fourth case of the first game, Turnabout Goodbyes, you will need to talk to Detective Gumshoe at the Police Department.

When talking to him, you need to select all options until the option “Secret Weapons” shows up. Choose that option to be able to choose between 3 different weapons.

At first, choose to borrow Missile, the dog. After that, you can select “Secret Weapons” again and borrow the Fishing Pole. Lastly, to continue with the story and to unlock the trophy, select “Secret Weapons” another time and choose to borrow the Metal Detector.

Mind Your Own Business, Pal!
Press Gumshoe about "they were even talking about marriage." (JFA, Ep. 1)

During the first case of the second game, The Lost Turnabout, you’ll need to do a cross-examination of some of Gumshoe’s testimonies. Once he is talking about the relationship of Dustin and Maggey during his second cross-examination, press on the statement “It sounded like they were even talking about marriage”.

Um, Lotta Hair, Was It?
Reply with "Lotta Hair" when talking to Lotta. (JFA, Ep. 2)

On the first day of your investigation during the second case of Justice for All, Reunion and Turnabout, you’ll meet a familiar face when you visit the Winding Way for the second time. Instead of choosing the correct answer Lotta Hart, choose Lotta Hair.

Naruhodo A. Wrighto
Present Max's profile to Maya. (JFA, Ep. 3)

During Case 3 of Justice for All, Turnabout Big Top, you’ll meet your defendant Maximillion Galactica at the Detention Center. Once you’re done talking to him, go back to the Wright & Co. Law Offices to be able to talk to Maya. Select Present and switch to character profiles using . There, you can present Maximillion’s profile to her.

Judge Wackner
Press Oldbag's claim that "it was the Nickel Samurai that I saw!" (JFA, Ep. 4)

When you’re at the first trial of Case 4 of Justice For All, Farewell My Turnabout, you’ll do some cross-examinations of Wendy Oldbag’s testimonies. During her second cross-examination, press on her when she says “The Nickel Samurai, that’s right, it was the Nickel Samurai that I saw!

Beware, Your Honor!
Press Dahlia's claim that "Feenie pushed him twice." (T&T, Ep. 1)

During Turnabout Memories, the first case of Trials & Tribulations, you’ll cross-examine Phoenix’ girlfriend Dahlia. During her second cross-examination, press when she says “The truth is… Feenie pushed him twice.

Smells Like Oldbag
Examine everything with even a whiff of Oldbag on it. (T&T, Ep. 2)

There are two occasions during the second case of Trials & Tribulations on which you can examine things that are in relation to Wendy Oldbag, a character you met in the previous games.

The first thing can be found in Mask?DeMasque's Hideout during the first day of the investigation part. Examine the object that looks like a fishbowl on the left of the room.

The second time you can find something that hints at Wendy Oldbag is during the second investigation part. Once you meet Larry Butz in the Security Room of KB Security, you can examine a few objects. First, examine the white poster on the left. Also, examine the seat below that poster. Additionally, if the trophy wasn’t unlocked at this point, you can also examine the seat on the right of the screen.

Jean's Foreign Language Course
Learn all of Armstrong's fancy foreign words. (T&T, Ep. 3)

This trophy can be a bit confusing due to the fact that it’s a bit unclear which foreign words really count for the trophy and which don’t. You’ll hear most words during story progression of the third case of Trials & Tribulations, but some words are associated with things that aren’t related to the story at all.

Make sure to do the following things during that episode:

First meeting with Jean Armstrong (Investigation 1)

  • Present Attorney’s Badge
  • Present Maya’s profile
  • Present Mia’s profile
  • Present Godot’s profile
  • When talking to him and after presenting Maggey's profile, choose “Maggey’s Motive” AFTER it got psyche-locked. So basically, select it for the first time to create a psyche-lock and immediately select it for a second time afterwards.

After breaking Victor Kudo’s psyche-lock at Vitamin Park (Investigation 1)
Go back to Trés Bien to talk to Armstrong again

  • Present Scooter
  • Present Victor’s Note

When trying to break Armstrong’s psyche-lock (Investigation 1)
You need to choose a wrong item or person on every occasion before showing the right object/person!
For example, do as follows:

  • Person who stole the ticket: Maya
  • Proof that he has stolen from others: Attorney’s Badge
  • Incontestable proof: Attorney’s Badge
  • In desperate need of a large amount of cash: Attorney’s Badge

When talking to Armstrong again (Investigation 2)
You can find him in the kitchen of Trés Bien.

  • Present Maggey’s profile

Note: If you absolutely want to make sure to hear all words from him, you can also try to present every item and profile from your Court Record before proceeding with the story. That shouldn't be necessary, but may be a good backup.

During the second trial part:

  • Cross-examination “At Trés Bien”: Press him on every statement
  • Cross-examination “The Mirror”: Press him on every statement
  • Cross-examination “In the Restaurant”: Press him on every statement, HOWEVER, after pressing on “I remember la old man arrived not long after 'im”, choose "How many minutes after". Continue to press him on every other statement before going back to this statement and choose “What time?” Once he changed the previous statement, press on the new one “I remember la old man arrived not long after ‘im, just after 2 PM.”

Continue with the story afterwards and you should unlock the trophy. In case you missed a word, you don’t need to hear every word again. Replay the case and once you heard the word you’ve missed before, the trophy will unlock.

Violetta's Home-Made Donuts
Get a donut offered to Phoenix by Viola. (T&T, Ep. 3)

During the second investigation of Recipe for Turnabout in Trials & Tribulations, you’ll need to destroy Viola’s psyche-lock. Instead of showing the Repair Bill, just show her your Attorney’s Badge and she’ll offer you a donut.

I Hate Childhood Friends
As Edgeworth, hear all of his and Larry's childhood tales. (T&T, Ep. 5)

On the first day of the investigation in Bridge to the Turnabout, the fifth case of Trials & Tribulations, you will be playing as Miles Edgeworth who is trying to help Phoenix Wright due to him being unable to investigate at this point.

You’ll meet Larry Butz at the Main Gate, present the Attorney’s Badge to hear about the first childhood memory.

A bit later, you’ll need to go to the Heavenly Hall where you meet Larry again. Examine the flags hanging on the left to hear the second and final childhood memory.

First Steps
Start playing PW: AA Trilogy.

Story related. Can’t be missed.

Start playing Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. That’s all you need to do to unlock this trophy.

Justice Ill Served
Get the bad ending in PW: AA - Justice For All. (JFA, Ep. 4)

There are two different endings for the second game, Justice for All. During the last trial of the fourth episode, you’ll cross-examine Shelly de Killer.

Once you’re done with that, you need to announce if your client is guilty or not guilty. Choose whatever you want and Franziska will interrupt the verdict to present new evidence to the court: De Killer’s Pistol, a Video Tape and a Bellboy Uniform. Select all of them to receive more details about them.

After that, Mia will suggest two possibilities on how to solve this case successfully. However, the whole situation is complicated and so you only have a single chance to show the right evidence.

Make a save when Phoenix says “…” (or before!) and present SOMETHING ELSE than Shelly de Killer’s profile and the Video Tape, and reply with anything else than “wanted to blackmail you”.

If done correctly, your client will be found not guilty and you’ll see the bad ending. You can then load your last save and show the right evidence to continue with the true ending.

Ladders Vs. Step-Ladders
Get every ladder vs. step-ladder conversation in PW: AA Trilogy.

The ladder vs. step-ladder conversations are a running gag of the Ace Attorney games, so you’ll see them quite often. There will be five different conversations about ladders in the trilogy. All you have to do is to examine all the (step-)ladders and read the conversation.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney

  • Case 3, Turnabout Samurai: First Investigation, Studio One
  • Case 5, Rise from the Ashes: First Investigation, Underground Parking Lot

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Justice for All

  • Case 3, Turnabout Big Top: First Investigation, Big Top

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Trials & Tribulations

  • Case 2, The Stolen Turnabout: First Investigation, Basement Warehouse
  • Case 5, The Bridge to the Turnabout: Near the end of the second investigation part (after the first trial), you’ll go to the Courtyard and receive Gumshoe’s Metal Detector. With that Metal Detector, examine the ladder on the right. You can examine the ladder way earlier in this episode, but you won’t get a conversation out of it.

In case you missed a (step-)ladder, you don’t need to see every conversation again. Replay the case in which you’ve missed the conversation and just examine the respective (step-)ladder to unlock this trophy.

Lunchbox Specialist
Check out every lunchbox Angel Starr has to offer. (PW: AA, Ep. 5) (1)

Angel Starr is one of the major characters in the last case of the first game, Rise from the Ashes. Her quirk is offering you different lunchboxes for every situation. You will see most of them during story progression while talking to her and cross-examining her during the trials, but there are five lunchboxes that you could technically miss.

  • When you meet Angel for the first time, present the Attorney’s Badge

During the first trial

  • After the crime photo is used as evidence, select “No Problem” instead of “Objection”
  • When you need to reveal Angel’s lie, choose “What she saw” and “The order of events” before going on with the correct answer. You will receive damage, so make sure you have enough life to spare at this point. This will give you a different lunchbox for every wrong answer.
  • During the cross-examination about the bloody shoe: Press her on the line “This shoe proves it! It's flawless, decisive evidence!” and say “There’s a problem”.

You should unlock the trophy later on the case (during the third investigation in the Underground Parking Lot). In case you missed a lunchbox, you don’t need to see every box again. Replay the case and once you saw the box you’ve missed before, the trophy will unlock.

A Lawyer Only Cries Once It's All Over
Clear all of PW: AA Trilogy.

Story related. Can’t be missed.

You’ll get this trophy once you’ve completed all cases of every game. It should unlock back at the main menu.
