Gone Home is a beautiful, well told narrative driven game where you, playing as Kaitlin Greenbriar in 1995, walk around a house looking at objects and listening to journals for all the story elements. It is highly recommended that you skip this guide for your first playthrough. That should take you a couple hours and then spend 30 minutes going for all the trophies. While the trophies are missable, I'm not going to label them as such because you can start a new game and immediately work on the trophy requirement and earn them minutes later.

Step 1 - Complete the game finding all journals in under 10 minutes.
There are 23 Sam's Journals and 1 Mitten's Journal, you must find all of them and then complete the game in under 10 minutes. For this playthrough, you can't have any modifiers active. You will earn the following during this step:

Meow Meow Meow
Letters to Katie

Step 2 - Complete the game in less than 1 minute
I know it sounds crazy, but the game can be beaten in less than a minute if you wanted to skip all the narratives and go straight to the end. Once again, you aren't allowed to have any modifiers active. Completing in under a minute will net you the following trophy:

Step 3 - Miscellaneous Trophy Clean Up
The remaining 5 trophies in this game are relatively simple and will only take ten minutes to mop up. For these you can use Modifiers except on Intuitive, which will require you to leave the doors locked. Check the Trophy Guide for instructions on the following:

Nesting Instinct
This Old House
Wet Bandit
Behind the Scenes

[PST Would Like To Thank PS4Trophies Wozamil for this Roadmap]

Gone Home
Completed the game.

Story related, can't be missed. You will get this after interacting with the final object.

Letters to Katie
Completed the game having found all 23 of Sam's journal entries. (2)

The 23 journals are objects that you interact which trigger spoken dialogue from Sam. These are the main plot points of the game. You will need to do the requirements of this trophy along with Meow, Meow, Meow to earn the Speedreader trophy so refer to Speedreader for walkthrough on each of their locations.

Completed the game in less than 1 minute with no Modifiers enabled. (From New Game in a single session only) (43)

To complete the game, you simply just have to interact with the diary in the attic. To earn this trophy you will need to play without any modifiers on. This trophy has very little margin of error. You'll need to grab the house key from under the Christmas Duck, locate the attic key in the secret room to the right of the main stairs and then quickly make your way to the attic and interact with the diary. The time starts from the moment you can control Katie and ends when you touch the diary. The trophy will pop when you're brought back to the main menu. Note - you can skip the intro and outro cutscenes with but beware, skipping the outro can cause the screen to go black and may potentially prevent the trophy from popping.

The trophy is a little buggy and may not pop even if you complete it within 60 seconds. There's no real solution other than keep trying. You can view THIS thread where people have offered some possible solutions, but nothing that guarantees success.

Completed the game having found all 24 journal entries, with no Modifiers enabled, in less than 10 minutes. (From New Game in a single session only) (14)

This requires you to do a 100% playthrough and complete the game in under 10 minutes, again, with no modifiers activated. If you know the path, combinations and don't need to turn on the lights, then this can be completed in 7-8 minutes leaving you room for error.

There are 23 Sam Journals and 1 Easter Egg Mittens Journal (Meow, Meow, Meow). The biggest time saver is if you already know the combination to Sam's locker in her bedroom. If you have played the game normally, you probably have that already but if you haven't, then see below for the combination.

Follow the video below for a walkthrough of this trophy and locations of all the journals. My completion time was 8:35 and that was with taking the time to turn on all the lights. You can follow along in your game with this video and pause the game to see the next location as pausing will stop the timer - thanks MilkBone for confirming this.

Behind the Scenes
Activated all Commentary Nodes with the Developer Commentary Modifier enabled. (10)

The commentary nodes can only be seen if you activate the Developer Commentary Modifier from the menu before you begin the game. These are fun little behind the scenes looks into the development of the game but you don't have to fully listen to each one. You will see the light on the node go dim which will indicate that you have listened to it. Some of them are cleverly hidden so watch the following video if you need help locating them:

Secret Trophies
Meow Meow Meow
Found Mitten's secret diary. (2)

Mitten's secret diary is the 24th journal you need to find as part of the Speedreader trophy. If you referred to the video in that description, this trophy starts at the 7:16 point. You need to find the secret purple basketball in the garage. The only way to get it is by throwing a can from the recycling bin at the ball. Once you've knocked it down, simply take that ball back to Sam's room and interact with the basketball hoop behind the door.

Nesting Instinct
Returned Christmas Duck to his rightful place. (2)

The Christmas Duck is sitting on top of the house key in the cabinet to the left of the front door. Take the duck and place him on the nest located in the attic. The nest is immediately to the left as you climb up the attic stairs. You can start a new game and activate the unlock doors modifier and just quickly take him up there in a minute.

See This Old House for a video of this.

Wet Bandit
Turn on every faucet in the house at once. (6)

There are 8 faucets in the house that you must turn on and leave on. They are located in the following rooms:

  • Bathroom in the Foyer (1 sink)
  • Bathroom in Mom & Dad's Bedroom (2 sinks & 1 tub)
  • Bathroom across from Sam's Room (1 sink & 1 tub)
  • Bathroom past dining room and kitchen near Laundry room (1 sink)
  • Laundry room (1 sink)

See This Old House for a video of this.

Guess the combination to Oscar's safe before finding the code. (5)

The safe that you must open is located in the basement in the Servant's Quarters. You must correctly guess the combination of the safe before finding the code. Make sure you just go straight to the safe to avoid accidentally finding the code, which is out in the open just to the right and possibly on other documents, so be careful. The code is below:

See This Old House for a video of this.

This Old House
Open the secret bookshelf in the guest room from the outside. (6)

There is a secret path leading from the basement up to the Guest Room on the second floor. It's easy to find and activate this from the basement but if you activate it first from the Guest Room, you'll get this trophy. The Guest room is the first door past Mom & Dad's Bedroom if you're heading towards the attic. Inside the Guest Room you will find the button in the near corner of the ceiling, inside the closet.
