Detective Gallo is a comedy noir point and click adventure game developed by FootPrints and published by Adventure Productions (The Wardrobe) in 2018. The town is rocked one day by plant murder. Cynical rooster Detective Gallo, along with his trusted assistant Thorn the Cactus, must navigate the mean streets in search of a quadruple murderer.

Trophy-wise, the most important thing to watch out for is Sprinter, which requires you to play the entire game in one sitting, without pausing (either by pressing Options or by accessing the notebook in Gallo's inventory) or making saves. With a walkthrough, Gallo should take about two hours, or about an hour if you're just running through the game without worrying about trophies.

Step 1: Play through the game, unlocking all missable trophies

All but five or six trophies on the list are missable, and Gallo lacks any kind of chapter select, so whatever you've missed you will need to start a new game to try again. To help, I've listed the trophies below in the order they should unlock.

If you're trying to get everything in a single run, read up on the game-spanning Sprinter, Old School, and Timed Trial.

Step 2: Speedrun (optional)

If you didn't unlock the speedrun trophy during your first playthrough, now is the time to go for it. You will also want to go for whatever miscellaneous trophies you missed during your first playthrough. I have no idea what the time limit for the speedrun is (reports say at least three hours), but my walkthrough will take about two hours if you go for all of the trophies, which will still unlock the speedrun.

If you didn't unlock the other game-spanning trophies in Step 1, combine them with your speedrun. See each trophy for more information.

Vigilante
That taxi driver picked up his last fare… 

Story-related and cannot be missed.

You will unlock this when you use your smuggler's guild membership card on the sleeping taxi driver and escape the subsequent standoff.

Alcoholic
Cocktails go to my head. 

Story-related and cannot be missed.

You will unlock this when you finish your trip into the Dimension of Sincerity.

Romantic Detective
A real badass always know when to be sweet. 

Story-related and cannot be missed.

You will unlock this when you present Candy Bop with a romantic rose.

Role Player
Ridicolous little green men… 

Story-related and cannot be missed.

You will unlock this when you construct the alien lockpick and return to the Brotherhood meeting.

Heroic Deed
There's only his stench left… 

Story-related and cannot be missed.

You will unlock this trophy when you finish your stand-off with your main suspect near the end of the game.

Good Morning
When you are a heavy sleeper… 

In the Emporium, you will find an alarm clock. Take it with you and use it on the sleeping taxi driver on Rhododendron Road. You won't wake him up, but you will earn this trophy.

Cold-Blooded Detective
I like counting on my best friend. 

For this trophy, you will need to use Gallo's revolver on all characters in the game.

I have listed all characters below, in order. Some of these may not be necessary (either they're variations of the same character, and/or using the revolver just gives a generic response), but doing this will definitely get you the trophy:

Smuggler
What's a smuggler without a business card? 

For story reasons, you will join a guild of smugglers, and the membership card will be faxed to Gallo's office. Ultimately, you need to use the card with the sleeping taxi driver. Before doing so, however, use the card with the following characters:

  1. Candy Bop
  2. Baby Punk
  3. Wholesaler
  4. Phil Cloro
Green Thumb
Now I figured out what Latin is good for. 

When Gallo robs the vending machine in Bloodletting Square, he will come into possession of a pink extendible leg. Use this leg to replace the gardening manual that is holding up his desk. Ultimately, you need to use this manual to identify an unknown leaf at the Greenhouse Mansion. However, before doing that, use the manual to identify the following plants:

  1. Emporium – flower near the exit
  2. Rhododendron Road – bush between the gate and the taxi
  3. Greenhouse Mansion – leaf pillow
  4. Greenhouse Mansion – root couch
  5. Greenhouse Mansion – the four “unknown plants”


When you've identified all of these plants, use the gardening manual on the leaf on the ground (which has likely changed from “unknown leaf” to “eucalyptus”) to unlock this trophy.

Space Invader
It's always fun to threaten Earth… 

For story reasons, Gallo can swap a non-alcoholic cocktail with the Wholesaler in exchange for an alien mask. You will want to use this mask on the following characters/objects before using it with the group of aliens:

  1. Emporium – Wholesaler
  2. Emporium – UFO
  3. Knives District – Candy Bop
  4. Knife and Cleaver – Bartender
  5. Knife and Cleaver – Skinny Customer
  6. Knife and Cleaver – Muscly Customer
  7. Rhododendron Road – Baby Punk
  8. Garden Mansion – Phil Cloro
  9. Aqueduct – Worker
  10. Aqueduct – Undercover Cactus
  11. Aqueduct – Peephole on Door

Baby Sitter
Maybe as a side job… 

Once Gallo can access the Aqueduct Tower, he can find a stuffed teddy bear in a cabinet. Take this teddy bear to Baby Punk (now located on Rhododendron Road) and give it to him.

Infallible Nose
What's a detective without his instincts? 

Near the end of the game, Gallo can trade a rare black diamond (smoked popsicle + glowstick) with the Wholesaler in exchange for a mold detector. Put the evidence mold in the detector to activate it.

In the dump, if you hover your cursor over the items on screen, you'll notice that there are various piles of junk, all of which have different adjectives. For this trophy, you'll need to use the mold detector on the correct pile of junk on the first try.

The mold you're looking for is STINKY junk. It's located on the screen where you found the armchair and the coal needed to make the black diamond. In the bottom left corner of the screen are compact, rusty, and stinky junk. Find the stinky junk and use the mold detector on it.

Interference
Who was that, Mario? 

For the first half of the game, Gallo will sometimes call his informant to get information on how to proceed through the story. Once Gallo is able to access the Aqueduct Tower, his informant will no longer answer the phone. The first time you try calling, you'll get an answering machine. Calling again immediately after will get Mario, who will unlock this trophy.

This doesn't strictly need to be done as soon as you get to the tower. It's just the earliest you can unlock this trophy.

Animal Activist
The animals must respect other animals. 

Late in the game, Gallo can pick up a mouse from the Knife and Cleaver. Before taking it to the dump, take it just outside of the Knife and Cleaver and attempt to set it free in the rat hole next to Candy Bop's stand.

Timed Trial
Speed is my middle name. 

I have no idea what the time limit for this trophy is, but reports say at least three hours. My walkthrough will get you the platinum in around two hours, which will unlock the speedrun trophy. Someone please let me know if they get this trophy in a time over three or four hours.

You aren't able to skip cutscenes in this game, but you can press X to make most of the dialogue go faster.

The trophy will unlock during the ending cutscenes.

Old School
There's nothing like the old school. 

To unlock this trophy, you will need to play through the entire game without activating the hotspots (R2). Gallo will do this once when he's at the Garden Mansion at the beginning of the game, but you should never press R2 during the entirety of the game.

The trophy will unlock during the ending cutscenes.

Sprinter
Never stop. Never. 

This is the Mein Leben of point and clicks. It's just considerably easier to obtain.

To get this trophy, you need to play the entire game in a single sitting, without pausing the game or saving. This isn't actually difficult to do, but you do need to be a bit careful, as the left-most slot of Gallo's inventory is his notebook, which if clicked on WILL void this trophy (as it's the same as if you pressed start/options, which is where the pause/save menu is).

You don't actually have to be constantly on the move; you can idle on the main game screen. You just can't close the game or pause it.

The trophy will unlock during the ending cutscenes.

Devoted
Assistants are born, not made. 

Once Gallo assembles the alien lockpick, he will leave his beloved Thorn with Candy Bop. Click on Thorn 3-4 times and this trophy will unlock.

You only have a brief window of time for this trophy, as once you go back to the Brotherhood with the lockpick, Thorn will no longer be accessible as an interactible character.

Chronically Indecisive
Doubt is the source of wisdom. 

On the main menu of the game, select new game, then “no, I've changed my mind.” Do this three times in total and Gallo will tell you off and unlock a trophy.

Supplier
Cutlery smuggling. 

In the Emporium, Gallo can pick up a fork, knife, and spoon. Take them outside to Bloodletting Square and give them to Baby Punk.

Connoisseur
Got the cocktail in one. 

You will need to solve a timed puzzle at the Knife and Cleaver on your first try. Remember that making a backup save will void Sprinter.

Before attempting this, look at the broken TV at the Knife and Cleaver and then talk to the bartender. Ask her about the broken TV.

Go back to the top of the Aqueduct Tower. Use the rope (found at the dump side of the Aqueduct) with the TV transmitter (there's a bird's nest on it), then go back down the ladder and pull the rope. This will align the transmitter and make the TV at the Knife and Cleaver start working again.

Go back to the Knife and Cleaver and ask the Bartender for a cocktail. She will pour three rounds of drinks, and get distracted by the TV between each round. This is when you will want to swap drinks around.

There are two different ways you can solve this, based on what buttons you use as your action buttons. Pick one way.

1) on the Right,
2) on the Right, on the Middle

OR

1) on the Middle,
2) on the Right, on the Middle

Pick up the left glass after the third round (it should be light blue) and you will unlock this trophy.

Cameo
Those game designers are crazy… 

Midway through the game, Gallo will find himself in the Dimension of Sincerity. From his starting point, look at the orange glass with ice cubes at the top of the screen. On the right side of this glass is a tiny square that if you put the pointer on it will show up as “?”. Click on it 4-5 times and Gallo will find a picture of the game's developers and unlock this trophy.

Briber
Here's the proper use of the money. 

For this trophy, you will need to use Gallo's generous advance on all characters in the game.
