Anamorphine is a dark walking simulator that takes you down the spiraling road of depression. You play as Tyler whose significant other, Elena, is a renowned cellist. After an accident leaves her unable to play, you watch as her joy turns to sorrow as you traverse through past memories leading up to an event that changes your lives forever. While her depression grows, the world around you becomes more and more unrecognizable as her demons become yours. Witness the climax of her downfall and attempt to pick up the pieces of your own life, if you can.

Because this game plays very heavily on the subject of depression, there are two play modes available. The game does give you a warning before starting that some of the scenes may be too much for some people. The first option is to play without any possibility of skipping any scenes. You’ll see the game in all it’s glory, both the good and the bad. The second option is to play with the skip cutscene option turned on. When it’s on, the game will queue you when a heavy scene is coming up and allow you to skip past it if need be (there is only one scene to skip). The trophies will unlock in both modes, this is just a personal preference for you to make.

Game Basics:

Because this is the very definition of a walking simulator, the only thing you will use are the analog sticks. No other buttons are touched in the entirety of the game.

is to move/steer (walking/on the bike)
is to move the camera around

There is no manual save option, only auto save.

The game does suffer greatly from poor framerate issues. It can take anywhere between 30 seconds to 2 minutes for scenes to load in. This is especially painful towards the end of the game when there is a loading screen about every minute. When the game autosaves, you will have to deal with the freezing issues for a few seconds before continuing on. There will still be audio during these points, you just won’t be able to move. If you find yourself unable to move after about 20 seconds or more, you’ll need to restart the app to fix it. This only happened to me twice during one playthrough, but didn’t happen at all during the second, so just a fair warning on it.

A complete trophy walkthrough video has been provided under the trophy The Collector.

Step 1: Play through the game and go for the collectibles and the Dark Ending

In this first step, you’ll want to play through the game while collecting all of the memory fragments and go for the dark ending. Out of the two endings available, this one takes the longest (though it’s really only an extra about five minutes to complete it). There is no chapter select available so if you miss any of the collectibles, you’ll need to start a new game and collect them all again. As such, a small text guide and walkthrough video have been provided for the fragments under the The Collector trophy, though almost all of them are story related so you’ll just need to keep an eye out for a few. To get the Dark Ending, you need to ignore the cell phone in the very last section of the game (see Mobius Twist for more info on that). After this step, you will have earned (in the order they will unlock):

  • Memory Photographer
  • Selfie
  • The Beginnings
  • Embrace the Truth
  • Face Your Guilt
  • The Event
  • Shattered Dreams
  • The Collector
  • Mobius Twist

Step 2: Replay the ending of the game and go for the Light Ending

Once you have completed the game (and watched all the credits), you will be able to continue on your save file and “Retry Decisions”. This will start you right after “the event” takes place, leaving the final 3 small sections. In the last one, there will be a cell phone ringing. When you can, answer it for the Light ending (see the actual trophy description for more details). Once you complete this section, you will earn the last and final trophy:

  • Life Goes On

[PST would like to thank Velvet for this roadmap]

The Beginnings
Remember your life with her

Story Related. Cannot be missed.

This trophy will unlock once you've completed the 4th memory (the lamppost).

The Event
Go through all the memories leading up to the event

Story Related. Cannot be missed.

This trophy will unlock once you've completed 6th Memory (the Arm Cast).

The scene that is related to this trophy is the only skippable scene in the game if you have that option on. If you do decide to skip it, this trophy and Embrace the Truth will unlock at the same time.

The Collector
Complete the game with all memory fragments collected

MISSABLE.

This is only one of two missable trophies in the game. For the most part, all of the memory fragments are either story related or are in plain sight. Even so, they are all listed below with their locations in the spoiler below. All of the fragments appear as glowing objects that you need to walk up to in order to collect. Just to be on the safe side, make sure when you walk up to them, you wait for them to stop glowing before moving on. If you're not next to them, the game may not register as them being collected, even if they have stopped glowing.

If you are doing the light ending, the trophy will unlock when you look at the belongings on the bed.

If you are doing the dark ending, the trophy will unlock after your final interaction with Elena.

If you wish to use a video guide over text, here is a complete 100% trophy walkthrough showing all the locations of all the fragments:

Memory 7.3: Green Plant a Third Time

No Fragments to collect

Life Goes On
Choose the light ending

This trophy and Mobius Twist are the only two you can still earn after you have completed the game. If you "continue" your game after the credits roll, you will start right before you make the decision for what ending you want.

After the “Event” takes place (Memory 6), you will have to go through three smaller sections of memories. All are initiated one at a time through a green plant in the main area. When you enter the third and final memory, you will play through the same sequence three times (3 apparitions of Elena will appear. You need to walk up to all three so they disappear, then go into the bedroom and into the desert area - the apartment will reset after each time).

In the second time through, you will hear a phone ringing. Ignore this and continue on with the sequence. In the third time through, the ringing will be much louder. When the sequence starts, instead of walking up to Elena, on the kitchen counter is a cell phone (it will be lit up). Walk up to it to answer it. The scene will change to a brighter, more empty apartment. Go into the bedroom and look at the belongings on the bed.

Mobius Twist
Choose the dark ending

This trophy and Life Goes On are the only two you can still earn after you have completed the game.

Completely ignore the phone ringing during all three sequences and you will come to Elena sitting on the railing of the balcony. Walk outside and up to her, then turn around and go into the desert area. Walk forward until the scene changes back to the apartment. Traverse the house until you are back at the main hub area. If you follow the path as it winds out to the right, it will eventually turn dark and there will be trash everywhere. You will come across a picture of Elena. The trophy will unlock here.

Shattered Dreams will also unlock while going for this trophy.

Memory Photographer
Take your first memory capture

This trophy will unlock once you have completed the Introduction Memory.

Embrace the Truth
Break through the mental barriers and discover the truth

Story Related. Cannot be missed.

This trophy will unlock once you have completed Memory 6 (the Arm Cast).

The scene that is related to this trophy is the only skippable scene in the game if you have that option on. If you do decide to skip it, this trophy and The Event will unlock at the same time.

Selfie
Take selfie with her

Story Related. Cannot be missed.

This will unlock at the end of Memory 3 (The Helmet).

Face Your Guilt
Discover the guilt creatures

MISSABLE.

In Memory 5 (The Plant), you will enter a twisted version of your apartment. The ceiling will be the floor, everything will be sidewards, etc. Eventually you'll come to a hallway where a large Christmas tree is sticking out from the left "wall". Before going forward to it, look to the right and you'll see a bike and stereo with some creepy looking eyes on them. Look at these to unlock the trophy.

Shattered Dreams
Witness the shattering of the Cello

This trophy is missable if you are going for the Light Ending, but impossible to miss if you are going for the Dark Ending.

In the final section of the game, you will go through the same sequence three times (3 apparitions of Elena will appear. You need to walk up to all three so they disappear, then go into the bedroom and into the desert area - the apartment will reset after each time). Completely ignore the phone during this section and during your third run of the sequence, you will witness Elena smash her cello on the floor in the bedroom. The trophy will unlock as soon as she does.
